MANOTICK PUBLIC LIBRARY GARDEN

5499 South River Dr in Manotick

The library garden was created in 2004 by the Manotick Horticultural Society to mark the 75th anniversary of the organization. Volunteers worked hard initially revamping the existing shrubbery and then redesigning and planting the garden with creative, fun plant materials such as donkey tails (Sedum Morganianum-a profuse self seeder) and lambs ears. Interesting Siberian irises bloom in June alongside a beautiful spring display of bulbs. Ornamental grasses including Blue Oats Grass and Japanese blood grass plus several pompon shaped shrubs and rejuvenated evergreens provide lovely structure. 

MHS donated the two decorative benches set at the library entrance. They reflect the Grecian style of the library entrance portico and columns.
